Dustin Alliano is a 9th generation Santa Barbara local. He began working in the fitness industry March 2009, though he has been active in fitness since he was eight years old. He received his degree in personal training from the National Personal Training Institute in Orlando, Florida, and was awarded the “best motivational trainer” of his graduating class. Under the mentorship of Robin Walker, owner of Core Fitness Training in Santa Barbara, Ca. Dustin realized his gift and talent for connecting with people and going above and beyond the typical role of a trainer by truly making a difference in people’s lives. In less than two years time, he had gone from working at Core Fitness Training to training a large number of clientele out of his own single car garage (which he had built into a small gym). Soon after his transition to training out of his home, he was fortunate to find the perfect space where he could start his own gym. This is where the vision of Superior Fitness Center began to take shape.

Dustin trains a wide variety of clientele ranging from seniors to young athletes. He has recently become devoted to the cause of making a difference in the lives of young adults and pre-teens suffering from extreme social anxiety and severe depression by rebuilding their self-confidence and providing them with a positive and nurturing atmosphere when they train with him. His approach to fitness is not the typical narrow mind set of many larger gyms, which focus purely on the physical body. Dustin uses a more holistic approach to overall health and wellness. His gym not only houses a wide variety of workout equipment, a lot of which is unique even to the fitness realm (400-700lb tractor tires used for flipping etc…), but it also contains a meditation room where his clients can choose to relax, center, and rejuvenate themselves after their workouts. It is no mere coincidence that Superior Fitness has many inspirational and motivational quotes visible all around the facility. Their presence reflects Dustin’s goal as a trainer: to motivate and inspire people to step out of their comfort zone, believe in themselves, and develop the courage, faith and persistence needed to reach their full potential. After a session with Dustin you will not only leave feeling like you got a great workout but you will feel better about yourself as a whole.

Dustin is constantly researching, testing, and incorporating new training techniques from the personal training realm at Superior Fitness because he understands the importance of staying abreast of the facts in an industry which is constantly evolving. He is excellent at tailoring fitness programs specifically to accommodate a person’s needs and physical ability. His training has helped people recover from strokes, reduce back pain, rebuild strength, and has also inspired kids who generally never leave the house, to do so and even discover new hobbies such as surfing, hiking and rock climbing; many high school athletes that he has trained have gone on to play for college teams.

In his free time Dustin enjoys going on walks along the coast, reading, watching classic films, going out for a nice dinner and spending time with his wife Chanel , daughter Lexi, and his two sons Jaxon and Wolf.

Hello, My name is Alex and I have been working as a Superior Fitness trainer since March of 2010 and I was named Director of Operations in June of 2013. My journey to becoming a fitness professional materialized rather organically. Since the age of 4, I have always been physically active. My parents encouraged me to play a wide variety of sports like basketball, soccer, baseball and karate. By the time I was 10, I had earned a second-degree black belt in Korean Karate and I was also on the Goleta All-Star Basketball team. It wasn't until I reached my mid-twenties that I got serious about exercise & health.

I began exercising and training with a friend who persuaded me to become a member of Gold's gym. It was one of the best decisions of my life and I instantly became addicted to exercise. I quickly wanted to learn more about living a strong & healthy lifestyle. Through International Sports Science Association (ISSA), I have become certified as a Fitness Trainer, Specialist in Fitness Nutrition, and Specialist in Exercise Therapy. My eagerness to gain knowledge about the fitness industry has not waivered. I am constantly engaging in new methods of training modalities like Pilates, Indoor Rock Climbing, Outdoor Training, Running, Bicycling, Agility and Stretching. By experimenting with different styles and practices, I am motivated to share with all my clients what I have learned and experienced, so that I can keep my workouts fresh, up to date and challenging.

My goal as a Fitness professional is to improve the quality of life for people who want to change their lifestyle habits, but are unsure where to begin. I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals whether it is losing body fat and building lean muscle, proper nutrition, rehabilitation training, sports specific training or strength training. Kelsey has been dancing and performing since she was 3 years old (choreographing in the living room as a child was a favorite weekend pastime). Growing up in Santa Barbara she danced with Diane Knowles Academy of Dance, which laid the foundation for her life of movement, including further studies in Jazz & Modern Dance technique, studying Dance at UCSB, and lately Bellydance, Burlesque, and Pole fitness/ dance (which she also teaches and is ElevatED certified). She finds time to choreograph, teach, and perform while also being mom to 2 beautiful kids, and holding down a corporate job (she performs as a dancer with a local punk rock band, "the DTEASE," which tours all over California). Last year she broadened her movement vocabulary by focusing, almost exclusively, on Hip Hop, including a few master classes with some Commercial Dancers, Willdabeast Adams being one of them, where she was told "Wow! Your energy! You must teach?" Kelsey is excited to bring that energy to Superior Fitness and to instill in others her love of movement and her passion of expression through dance, all while making sure her students get an amazing workout.

Chiropractic is founded on the idea that you already have all that you need to be your greatest and to be that super human version of you. It differs from the Western medical model in that its central aim is to support that life force that guided your development, that life force whose sole purpose is to make you as strong and healthy as possible. Rather than adding chemicals to try to “fix” you, chiropractic removes the interferences so you can better “express” you.

Dr. Ricky Polizo was born and raised in Santa Barbara. He played soccer and ran track at San Marcos High School before heading off to run sprints at Long Beach State. There, he earned his degree in Athletic Training, and received his Certification (A.T.C.) while working with the University's Division I Track & Field and Women's Soccer teams. After some world traveling he returned to California to study Chiropractic at Life Chiropractic College West in the Bay. There his understanding of the anatomy and physiology as expressions of health instead of instruments of injury and disease truly became whole.

Completing his Doctorate of Chiropractic (D.C.) in 2016, he moved to Mexico to open his practice, Flow Chiropractic. Aside from seeing patients, he held, and continues to hold, reoccurring seminars for doctors and students of Chiropractic to help develop their skills so they can get more out of each adjustment. These doctors are shaping this growing profession as it emerges in Mexico.

Upon returning to Santa Barbara this May, Ricky turned to Superior as a platform to share what he's learned about making your body the cleanest and clearest expression of that driving life force inside.

A Carpinteria local, Jon has been in the training industry since 2008 before joining the Superior Fitness team in October of 2014. The previous years were spent at Spectrum Athletic Clubs where he was named 2013 and 2014 Spectrum Trainer of the Year.

            First becoming interested in the strength training while playing football and competing in track and field at Carpinteria High School. Since then, Jon has gone to graduate from CSU-Northridge with a degree in Kinesiology as well as earning his NASM-PES certification. In 2012, looking to improve his training knowledge Jon passed the RKC, Russian Kettlebell Challenge, and became a certified kettlebell instructor. 

            Jon has also been involved with Santa Barbara county youth athletics since 2002. While attending Santa Barbara City College, he was an assistant football coach and track and field strength coach at Carpinteria High School from 2002-2005. After completing his degree, Jon was the athletic director and physical education coach at Santa Barbara Christian School from 2008-2012. 
Jon is entering his second season as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Dos Pueblos Football team and also works with the San Marcos baseball team.

My name is Aaron Thomas and I am a Certified Fitness Instructor at Superior Fitness Center in Santa Barbara, Ca. I was born and raised in Goleta and attended Dos Pueblos High School, where I played football and I am now the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the football program. I am certified through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA).

Since a young age, I’ve struggled with my weight and I have always been conscious of my self-image. For years, I went up and down in weight and pant sizes until I finally had had enough and decided to change my lifestyle.

By implementing a combination of proper nutrition, cardiovascular training, resistance training, and High intensity interval training (HIIT), into my regimen. I was able to lose over 50lbs in 8 months and drastically improve my overall strength, stability, stamina, and range of motion.


I truly believe that this is a formula for success and will work for anybody who is willing to work hard and maintain discipline. My mission is to guide my clients safely and effectively through their weight loss journey by providing them with the tools necessary to be successful and steadfast encouragement every step of the way.

Hello!
I was born and raised in the local San Andres community of Santa Barbara, CA.
I remember being just another kid walking up and down San Andres street with my junk food/ drinks like I see most kids doing today. I can honestly say, I was never really active growing up and didn't care for physical exercise. I was not born into that fitness life style, but I was lucky enough to have known people in my life growing up that have made a huge impact on me and pushed me outside of my comfort zone. People like my football coaches from Santa Barbara High School, where I played three years of high school sports. I immediately fell in love with the demand and disciplined that sports required from me. I not only learned how to exercise properly & learned different exercise techniques, but I felt as if it had changed my character for the better. It also helped me to change my entire outlook on discipline, perseverance, and the will to compete. I completely changed my mentality from who I once was growing up into an athletic, driven and disciplined boy.

After high school I tried solo sports such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, and Boxing. I not only discovered new loves for these different sports, but at the time, I noticed the work, and effort I had to put forth, which led me onto a more focused path of pure fitness and physical exercise. I joined Superior Fitness Center as a client looking for a new gym to call my own and try out things. I had never done anything like this before and I had the chance to experienced my own personal trainer giving me tips and advice on how to properly exercise and keep me motivated. So, I had met the mad scientist behind it all and I began to train under Dustin Alliano. I remember giving it my all during those crazy insane circuits created by Dustin. He helped me completely steer my mind on a path of loving physical fitness, not to be shredded or have bigger muscles, but by appreciating the results I was getting and showing me how creative one can be as a trainer. Dustin pushed people to new limits they didn't know they had and most importantly Dustin influenced people to be happier in their own bodies.

Along the way through this journey I had learned many different types and forms of physical exercise, from strength and resistance training, cardiovascular and muscle endurance, circuit training, to Agility and footwork movement patterns. I earned a Fitness Instructor certification under the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). I am also currently attending Santa Barbara City College by staying educated in the subject of kinesiology: Exercise Science. I am still constantly seeking for new ways to challenge myself using different and new creative methods and styles of training. If I had to choose my favorite style of training I would have to go with Cardio Boxing. Getting in shape and learning how to kick butt, how is that not fun?

I wish to help and motivate people to reach their fitness and life goals. All ages are welcome, it’s never too late to begin a change as big as this one. Joey has been interested in the way the body moves since he was little. A natural love of movement led him down a path of athletics. Searching for recovery from injuries he got from sports, he came across yoga.

By the time he was 15 his love for yoga began to grow. In 2014, while training with the Santa Barbara City College Soccer team, he injured his back that sidelined him for a week. That's when his transition into teacherhood really began.

Tired of destroying his body on the sports field, he started building it up with yoga. The more his physical body practice was coming along the more he got into the esoteric mind and spirt aspects.

In 2017 Joseph decided to follow his heart and passion which lead him to Divintree's 200 hour teacher training. Having yoga a part of his life for the last 15 years he felt it was finally time. He trained and was taught under incredibly talented teachers including Ann Averbach, Rachael Wilkins, Nuria Reed, Sebastian Hansen, Justine Perrizo, and more. Having completed his training his true goal was in sight and that is to share his practice with world.

Through his desire to give back, he got involved with the yoga for prisons program ran by Ginny Kuhn. Joey's classes are restorative based with light elements of hatha yoga and breath work.
